York Chocolate cats comes in chocolate brown or lavender, as well as a combination of these two colors. Typically, the coat will be lighter in kittenhood, but it will develop into a silky, rich chocolate color as the kitten grows and reaches maturity.



The York Chocolate has stunning eyes and has a gorgeous face. The eye coloring tend to be golden, hazel, or even green.

York Chocolate kittens are even-tempered, friendly, intelligent, curious, and energetic. They are also loyal and will gladly follow you around the house.

The York Chocolate is a very friendly, even-tempered breed that is very content as a lap cat. They love to be held and cuddled. The cats are intelligent, energetic, and curious, happily following their owner around. They are good companions and good hunters. They seem to be enamored with water and are sometimes shy.

This breed requires minimal grooming, so a regular brushing that will help maintain the health of the skin and coat is enough. The fur is super soft, which helps prevent matting.

The breed gets it name from New York, the state where it was first bred, and the luxurious brown color of it’s fur, that resembles chocolate.
